Highway 5 (later Cardiigan) were a Brisbane band that started gigging in Brisbane in 1994. They consisted of Nigel Ewart, Matt Noone, Zachary and Conwae Burrell and for a short time Stephen Tys on third guitar.

They released a tape early on called 'Donuts' which sold out very quickly due to airplay on local radio 4zzz.

This recording is from 1998 just before the band split up.


THE LOST TAPE

I had ended up with this old 1/2" tape that was given to me at some point, from someone, someplace in time.. eventually dusted off the box and carefully set the brittle and flaky tape on the 8track. Realising I had something here and the tape disintegrating before my eyes, I thought I'ld better get this down before it was gone for good!

This music had me rattled, it sounded Brisbane, it felt familiar.. After playing to some Brisbane luminaries of the era all roads led to Conwae (Extra Foxx) who confirmed this was their recording!

This release is the final playback.. you can hear the tape warbling and melting in some parts, adding to to the charm of this Brisbane 90s throwback.
Step back in time and enjoy the grunge stylings of Highway 5!
